New market opens in Dandenong’s Dow Market – TalkSport
The New York-based Dow Market opened its doors in Dendenong on Friday afternoon with a range of new shops and stalls offering local and seasonal products, such as produce, meat, fish, dairy, meat snacks and sweets.
“The Dow Market is a new market, it’s a new place, it was born on the corner of Swanston and Swanston streets,” Dendentong City Council executive director Lee Smith said.
“It’s just opened to the public today, so people can see it’s different from the old Swanston Street and that’s a huge plus.”
We have the new store on the ground floor, we have the whole building on the roof so you can see the whole thing and there’s lots of new space.
“This is just a really great space and it’s an exciting place to be.”
Dow Market will also host a “family event” this Friday night and the event is designed to be a social gathering of all ages, with children invited.
A few months ago, Dendendentongs resident Mark Bunn said the community was excited to have the area’s first outdoor market.
“I think the Dow Market has done a great job of developing the area, and it’ll continue to do so,” he said.
