Prince Charles’ first London bar opens to all
When it comes to London’s bar scene, Prince Charles is the king.
His first London Bar & Kitchen has opened in an abandoned hotel, in a historic corner of the City, and has been called the “best bar in the world”.
Now, it’s open to all.
The bar is named after the late Prince Charles and will be his first foray into the UK’s oldest trading post.
The Prince has not been shy about his desire to see more pubs and restaurants opening in the capital.
“We have a great idea to open a bar in London, a bar that people will actually come back to,” Prince Charles told Business Insider in March.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Hotel is among the city’s most historic hotels and has long been used as a home to the Royal Family.
“The Prince has always wanted to open an iconic hotel in London and this will be the perfect place to do it,” said Pauline Williams, marketing director for the hotel chain.
Prince Charles has long wanted to have a bar and restaurant in London but has been hesitant to invest.
He is also looking for investment to expand the Royal Palace.
His daughter Sophie is set to take over the throne when her father dies, and Prince Charles hopes to create a legacy for the UK by opening the bar.
“I want to make sure that we have a hotel in the UK that is a world class hotel,” Prince Philip told The Times.
The Royal Palace, which is currently in a state of emergency due to the Ebola crisis, is currently under construction at its current site.
“A lot of the royal family is going to be staying at the palace for a period of time, and they’ll be staying in hotel rooms that they have in their private collections,” Williams said.
Prince William and his wife Kate have been staying in the Palace since April.
