Tesla’s new $1,000 electric car gets its first customer
Posted September 06, 2018 08:08:53Tesla is giving its new electric car a customer test drive this week in the Pike Place Market, which will become the first US retail outlet to offer the Model S P85D.
The company has also opened up its online store, and will soon launch a special reservation system for the car.
While the test drive is taking place, Tesla will continue to test its vehicles at Tesla’s Fremont, California factory, and on the streets of its other manufacturing facilities in Arizona and California.
The Model S is the company’s first mass-market vehicle, and its debut will coincide with the company opening a factory in Arizona for its mass-production line, according to a Tesla spokesperson.
That will help Tesla ramp up its production in the US, which is where it will ramp up production of the Model X SUV, which the company will unveil in 2019.
Tesla is hoping to hit its goal of 500,000 Model S sedans per month by 2020, according a report from Bloomberg.
The Model S will likely be the first mass market car to have the same kind of range as a luxury car, according Tesla.
